An example of counterintutive passive solar design: by eliminating the southern wall of windows and adding a deep porch, a reverse gable dormer, and shed dormer (for cooling and stack effect), this little house went from a semi-annual toaster oven to a low-energy, light-filled retreat. Sun tempered with energy star appliances and IEQ enhancements.
